Slipknot have unveiled ‘The Negative One’ on their official website, their first new song in six years.
The track is the first to be released since the death of bassist, Paul Gray in 2010 and the departure of drummer, Joey Jordison last year.
Alongside ‘The Negative One’ – which is available to stream on the band’s website – plans for a new album have also been revealed on Slipknot1.com. A video for ‘The Negative One’ will be released on August 5.
The Iowa metal band has not released new music since 2008’s critically acclaimed ‘All Hope Is Gone’ but have been teasing clips all summer to mark the return of Slipknot. Speaking to Loudwire in July, singer Corey Taylor revealed the new album is “98 per cent done”.
Speaking of the recording process Taylor said: “It’s been a real positive experience just from an artistic and lyrical standpoint. There’s something very vital with what we’re trying to do. There’s something very visceral with the emotion we’re playing with and trying to tell the story of a band that’s gone through hell, and yet we’re back. It’s been really fulfilling.”
Information on when we can expect Slipknot’s fifth studio album and who is set to replace Jordison is still to be revealed but let’s be grateful with the new music on offer.
