British rockers, You Me At Six have released their new single ‘Lived A Lie’ to the public.

The first play of the single, which will feature on the bands fourth studio album Cavalier Youth, was aired on Monday (September 2) on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show.

Alongside airing the first single from the forthcoming album You Me At Six released the music video for the single and have made it available for download here.

The Surrey five-piece will return to Radio 1 on September 15 to perform four exclusive tracks from Cavalier Youth.

I’ve been up in the air with 30 Seconds to Mars

I’m so happy/excited/cannot wait/thrilled/in love with the fact that I’m going to be seeing one of my favourite bands of all time again in November!

30 Seconds to Mars released their fourth studio album Love Lust Faith + Dreams in May and are embarking on a new world tour to promote their latest offering.

The American alt-rock band is made up of the Leto brothers, actor/singer/director/all round amazing human Jared (lead vocals) and Shannon (drummer), and guitarist Tomo Milicevic.

Love Lust Faith + Dreams was produced by Jared Leto and Steve Lillywhite and it sits up there with A Beautiful Lie and 2009’s This is War for quality and cinematic music videos.

‘Up in the Air’ is the first single to be release from the bands new album and, like the videos we have grown to appreciate from the trio, it features familiar faces, including burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, and an alternative ideology behind the video.

Oh oh oh oh oh, Whoah

Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh, Whoah
Oh oh oh oh oh

I been up in the air, out of my head,
Stuck in a moment of emotion I’ve destroyed.
Is this the end I feel?
Up in the air, fucked up our life,
All of the laws I broke and loves that I sacrificed.
Is this the end?

I’ll wrap my hands around your neck so tight with love, love.
A thousand times I tempted fate,
A thousand times I played this game,
A thousand times that I have said,
Today, today, today.

Whoah, oh oh oh oh oh
Whoah, oh oh oh oh oh

I been up in the air, lost in the night.
I wouldn’t trade it all for your life.
You lust for my life.
Is this the end?
Hey!

You were the love of my life, the darkness, the light.
This is a portrait of a tortured you and I.
Is this the, is this the, is this the end?

I’ll wrap my hands around your neck so tight with love, love, love.
A thousand times I tempted fate,
A thousand times I played this game,
A thousand times that I have said,
Today, today, today.

Whoah
A thousand times I tempted fate, (Whoah)
A thousand times I played this game, (Whoah)
A thousand times that I have said, (Whoah)
Today, today, today.

Whoah, oh oh oh oh oh
Whoah, oh oh oh oh oh

Oh (today) oh (today) oh (today) oh (today) oh (today) oh (today) oh (today)

I been up in the air.
Is the end I feel?
Up in the air, chasing a dream so real.
I been up in the air.

I’ll wrap my hands around your neck. (Is this the end I feel?)
Up in the air, chasing a dream, chasing a dream.

Take no more!
Take no more!
Take no more!
I’ll take no more!

A thousand times I tempted fate. (Take no more)
A thousand times I played this game. (Take no more)
A thousand times that I have said. (Take no more)
Today, today, today.

Whoah
Today, today, today (I’ll wrap my hands around your neck, neck with love, love.)
Today, today, today (I’ll wrap my hands around your neck, neck with love, love.)

I’ll wrap my hands around your neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck.
I’ll wrap my hands around your neck so tight with love, love.

Amsterdam’s ‘Lightning Bolt’

Amsterdam gave the world a Bugg of a musician (bad joke?)

East Midland's Bob Dylan, Jake Bugg give music hope

East Midland’s Bob Dylan, Jake Bugg give music hope

Nottingham singer songwriter, Jake Bugg, is a sensation – not just saying that because I think he’s the savior of modern music or anything.

His debut single ‘Lightning Bolt’ was released last April from his BRIT nominated album (Jake Bugg) with the video, directed by Michael Holyk, posted on YouTube one year ago on Saturday (18 May 2013).

Since then Jake (19) has went from strength to strength performing in sold out venues, including Nottingham’s famous Rock City, and to festival revelers worldwide.

Singles released from his debut album include ‘Seen It All’, ‘Trouble Town’ and three others which are all infused with melodic tunes, Bugg’s unique singing voice and most importantly truthful lyrics that showcase how important it is to have this singer/songwriter in the business.

Working on his second album (eeep!) with Red Hot Chilli Pepper’s drummer, Chad Smith, and legendary producer Rick Rubin (Dixie Chicks, Green Day) there is more to come from the talented musician.

Dubbed the East Midland’s Bob Dylan, Bugg has a lot left to offer, and prove in some ways, so sit back and enjoy the Indie – Folk smash that is ‘Lightning Bolt’.

*I also just spent an eventful weekend in Amsterdam where this beauty was filmed (some sections in Brussels and Belgium) hence the post!*

BΔSTILLE: New Jam

I’ve been slow on the uptake with this Southampton four piece but BΔstille’s debut album, Bad Blood, is fantastic.

Looks like this thirteen track electronic rock album is going to be the theme tune to my trip to the Netherlands on Monday.

I was left to my own devices
Many days fell away with nothing to show

And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You’ve been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

We were caught up and lost in all of our vices
In your pose as the dust settles around us

And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You’ve been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

Oh where do we begin?
The rubble or our sins?
Oh where do we begin?
The rubble or our sins?

And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You’ve been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

If you close your eyes, does it almost feel like nothing changed at all?

Jake Bugg: Man on the Moon

If you haven’t guessed by now I’m a HUGE Jake Bugg fan.

He flows talent with music that is faultless on the record and live.

After a stressful month and half which included:

  • 3,000 essay dissertation proposal
  • 2,000 word essay
  • Newsweek – in uni every night for the past week until after nine in the evening and arriving at eight in the morning to film, record and publish nine radio broadcasts, 15 minute podcast, ten minute news bulletin, 28 page weekly newspaper and running blog and twitter accounts
  • 500 review of the assessed newsweek, with references
  • Three law exams
  • Job interviews
  • New job stresses

Jake’s new song, ‘Man on the Moon’, is a slow, melodic tune available on Space Ducks. The 2:37 wonder is a folk infused relaxing number that ties in with Daniel Johnston’s first comic book release (22 April) of the same name.

All that hard work deserves a cup of tea, some relaxing music and a day of doing nothing.

*The album is available on iTunes*

Last night the moon watched the sea,
As he looked so sad,
His reflection told me the story,
Why he didn’t speak a sound,
And all to do is weak/ we come down.

I tried to ask him what he needs,
Moon light paints my face,
And when he turned and looked at me,
Still who never speaks a sound,
And all to do is weak/ we come down.

And when the Earth comes to an end,
And all is lost,
The moon who looses his only friend,
Still who never speaks a sound,
And all to do is weak/ we come down.

No more words,
Lost in space,
It’s on his face,
Man on the moon.

Ilias: Somewhere in Time

****

The Algerian/Australian composer  brings hope back to music

Your new must buy album

Your new must buy album

Ilias is a fresh new artist who is about to hit the airwaves with his indie-folk eleven track début album, Somewhere in Time.

The Australian singer, songwriter, producer, composer and musician, to name a few, needs to be the next big name in the music industry with his back to basics recording and original, stylish music.

Ilias’ style is plain to see before listening to his album as the classic black and white cover and oyster guitar draws the eye and makes believe there is an eclectic delight waiting inside.

Somewhere in Time is a refreshingly mellow and relaxing album that displays the talent that flows through this brilliant musician.

A multi-instrumentalist album, Ilias not only sings the songs on these breathtakingly unique  songs but also performs background vocals, bass, keyboard, drums, piano  and both acoustic and electric guitars.

The ten year period of recording has left a mark of brilliance on the record and made it a must buy for lovers of folk, jazz and indie blues; or those who just thrive for new music.

Key tracks that stick out on the album include ‘One of a Kind’ with quietly-powerful instrumentals in the background and a silky smooth voice the song has a perfect twist of jazz and rock intertwined.

Other songs that showcase the talent that flows through this new artist include ‘This Life’ and ‘Lonely’.

‘Only One’ is a more upbeat song on the album filled with melodies and acoustic rhythms at the start which will send listeners off into a mystery world of jazz and blues.

This album is a must buy and is available in Ilias’ website.

Positively Bob Dylan

It’s exam time! Hence the lack of posts recently.

After four hours of law today and a lot of stress over the past few weeks this song seems to sum everything up perfectly.

Bob Dylan – Positively 4th Street

The song which captures your every emotion.

You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
When I was down
You just stood there grinning

You got a lotta nerve
To say you gota helping hand to lend
You just want to be on
The side that’s winning

You say I let you down
You know it’s not like that
If you’re so hurt
Why then don’t you show it

You say you lost your faith
But that’s not where it’s at
You had no faith to lose
And you know it

I know the reason
That you talk behind my back
I used to be among the crowd
You’re in with

Do you take me for such a fool
To think I’d make contact
With the one who tries to hide
What he don’t know to begin with

You see me on the street
You always act surprised
You say, “How are you?” “Good luck”
But you don’t mean it

When you know as well as me
You’d rather see me paralyzed
Why don’t you just come out once
And scream it

No, I do not feel that good
When I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief
Perhaps I’d rob them

And now I know you’re dissatisfied
With your position and your place
Don’t you understand
It’s not my problem

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You’d know what a drag it is
To see you

Fall Out Boy: New Jam

When Rome’s in ruins
We are the lions
Free of the coliseums.

In poison places,
We are anti-venom,
We’re the beginning of the end

Tonight the foxes hunt the hounds,
And it’s all over now before it has begun,
We’ve already won.

We are wild, we are like young volcanoes
We are wild, Americana, exotica
Do you wanna feel a little beautiful baby? Yeah!
Oh!

Come on
Make it easy, say I never mattered
Run it up the flagpole
We will teach you how to make boys next door
Out of assholes
(Ha Ha)

Tonight the foxes hunt the hounds,
And it’s all over now before it has begun,
We’ve already won.

We are wild, we are like young volcanoes
We are wild, Americana, exotica
Do you wanna feel a little beautiful baby? Yeah!
Oh!

We are wild, we are like young volcanoes
We are wild, Americana, exotica
Do you wanna feel a little beautiful baby? Yeah!
Oh!

MISHMASH it Today

I’m not a fan of mashing and mixing different songs together, especially ones from completely different categories.

However this little gem, from Go Periscope, has opened my eyes to the wonders of good remixes.

If you like what you here why don’t you download the FREE ten track album now.
